Why Prayers Go Unanswered

TOPIC: WHY PRAYERS GO UNANSWERED

SCRIPTURE: Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord. Romans 12:11.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: One reason prayers go unanswered is the lack of spiritual force, strength, or seriousness behind them.

One key ingredient of prayer that commands divine attention is spiritual fire. This was the kind of prayer Elijah prayed. Elijah’s prayer carried spiritual force, fire, and fervency. 1 Kings 18:36-38 says: And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.
Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again. Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. One could feel the force and fire of Elijah’s prayer. 

Today, many people pray, but their prayers carry minimal spiritual force. Many pray with lethargy; the word and the spirit behind their prayers are weak. One reason why prayers go unanswered is the lack of force, strength, or seriousness behind them. Here is what you need to know: divine intervention follows human passion and desperation. If there is going to be divine intervention, there must be passion and desperation from man. We see this in the life of Hannah in 1 Samuel 1:11-12, where she prayed with intense passion and desperation. My counsel is: Make up your mind to pray with focus and fire, and you will see answered prayer.

Remember this: One reason why prayers go unanswered is the lack of spiritual force, strength, or seriousness behind them.

1. Always open your heart to God in prayer and pray with all your heart.
2. Maintain unwavering faith in God to have answered prayer.
