The Pathway To Authority

TOPIC: THE PATHWAY TO AUTHORITY

SCRIPTURE: For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. Matthew 8:9.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The pathway to authority is to be under authority.

It has been established that a major pathway to authority and dominion is to exist under authority.  It takes being under authority to step into authority.  No wonder, our anchor Scripture, Matthew 8:9 says, For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

This clearly shows that no one can be in authority who has not been under authority. According to the centurion, he had people under his authority because he too was under an authority, a higher authority than his. A person who is not under authority cannot effectively be in authority.

The implication is that any authority you exercise when you are not under authority is questionable and short-lived. The authority you exercise when you are not under authority is not sustainable. Everyone attains a level of authority by being under another authority. Authority gives birth to authority.

As big as our Master Jesus is, when He came to the earth, He had to submit Himself under the authority of John the Baptist. When He came to John to be baptised, John said, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? Mathew 3:14

But He told John, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. Mathew 3:15.  And when Jesus Christ allowed John to baptise Him, He was announced to His generation and all subsequent generations. Jesus was announced because He submitted Himself to the authority of someone who was there before Him.

Beloved, the pathway to authority is to be under authority. To refuse to be under authority is to rob oneself of the opportunity to be in authority.

Remember this: The pathway to authority is to be under authority.

ASSIGNMENT:

1. Do not keep the company of the rebellious.
2. Serve with faithfulness any authority God has placed over your life.

PRAYER: Father, I receive the grace to be under authority. Help me to be under the right authority and serve faithfully with humility and honour, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
