The Help Of God

Saturday 11th April 2026

TOPIC: THE HELP OF GOD

SCRIPTURE: I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

Psalms 121:1-4

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Self-made men are limited, while help-made men are limitless.

One of the greatest assets of any mortal man is the help of God. The help of God is behind the making of great men and women. The help of God is the force behind those who make indelible mark or impact in life.

The help of God was behind the making of King David. No wonder, Psalm 89:19 says, I have laid help upon one that is mighty… Without any doubt, David was the most gifted or talented person in the Old Testament: he was a prophet, a leader, a king, a warrior, a priest, a psalmist, an inventor, etc.

The help of God was also behind the making of the man called Paul the Apostle. Paul the Apostle, apart from our Master Jesus Christ, was the most impactful figure in the whole of the New Testament.

And the same Paul the Apostle ascribed his impact to the help of God in Acts 26:22: Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day…

David was a help-made man. Paul was also a help-made man. There are self-made men, and there are help-made men. Some people boast, “I am a self-made man.” Self-made men are limited, while help-made men are limitless. Help-made men are superior to self-made men. Nebuchadnezzar boasted of building Babylon all by his power as a self-made man, but when he crashed and was driven to the bush, he realised that he was limited.

Beloved, you are not alive today because of your wisdom or strength. There were intelligent people who saw January but couldn’t be alive to see April. There were wealthy people who saw January but couldn’t reach April.

Beloved, deliberately celebrate the Help of God. It does not matter what you lack or what you may have failed to achieve in the first quarter of the year, remember that the year has not yet ended. The fact that you have life is enough reason to celebrate the Help of God.

Now, what is the way of God’s Help? If you want to experience the Help of God consistently, what do you do? We shall be looking at one of the things to do, and that is to Discern your need for His Help (Hebrews 4:16).

You must confirm that you need the Help of God. There is a popular saying in the village that “it is the child who stretches his hands that is carried.”

Beloved, if you are too arrogant or boastful, you cannot secure the Help of God. If you are independent of God or self-sufficient without Him, you cannot attract His Help. If you need the Help of God, you must confirm to God that you are utterly helpless without Him.

REMEMBER THIS: Self-made men are limited, while help-made men are limitless

ASSIGMENT(S):

  1. Make it known to God that you are helpless without Him.
  2. Be appreciative of the previous help of God in your life.
  3. Proceed to the throne of grace at the place of prayer.

PRAYER: Father, thank You for Your Word to me today. I acknowledge that I am helpless without You. I ask for Your help every step of the way in my journey through life, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
