TOPIC: DESPERATE PASSION AND HUNGER—SECRET TO THE SUPERNATURAL

SCRIPTURE:  O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

Psalm 63: 1-2

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When your hunger is conquered, your journey is over.

It has been confirmed throughout Scriptures and life experiences that those who touched the depths of God were those who desperately hungered for it.

In Philippians 3:10, Paul the Apostle, out of that desperate passion for God, cried, That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death…

I refer to it as “Hunger that cannot be conquered.” When your hunger is conquered, your journey is over.

As it is in the spiritual, so it is in the physical. Show me that man in physical form who is no longer hungry and does not want to eat food again—how much longer would he live? Eventually, his physical life will be over.

Bishop Oyedepo is still out every week for street evangelism, permanently hungry for God. So many people are satisfied with very little things:

“I just finished building my personal house, and I can also fly first class to any place.” That is mere survival. That was not the success of those who brought us the Gospel. Some people have come to the point where they are eating so uncontrollably that their bodies are already out of shape. And that is because there is nothing occupying their minds anymore.

When real problems hit you, food loses its taste. That is why, in situations of bereavement, people don’t talk about eating, sometimes, even for three days.

Some Christians don’t know the last time they fasted. Their bodies would start shaking by 12:00pm whenever they attempt fasting. Imagine a pastor or a Christian leader who cannot fast. It is very rare to see people under such leaders’ watch who pursue God passionately, because the set man does not have that spirit. The truth is what the father does not have, he cannot give to his children. A gene that the father does not have cannot be transferred to the child, except in rare cases, which is very unlikely.

Smith Wigglesworth once said, “My assignment is to bring you to the point of dissatisfaction with satisfaction.” The Presence of God goes in the direction of spiritual hunger and passion, and the outcome of that is the intense climate of the supernatural.

Beloved, your prayer should be, “Father, bring me to the point where my hunger cannot be conquered.” And do all you can to sustain your hunger and fire for God.

Remember this: When your hunger is conquered, your journey is over.

ASSIGNMENT(S): 

1. Make up your mind never to come to a place of satisfaction in your pursuit of God.
2. Ask the Lord to baptize you with a spiritual hunger that cannot be conquered.

PRAYER: Father, bring me to the point where my hunger for You cannot be conquered. Help me to hunger for you desperately and unceasingly, Lord in Jesus’ Name.
