The Therapy For Pride

THURSDAY 15TH JANUARY 2026

TOPIC: THE THERAPY FOR PRIDE

SCRIPTURE For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it? 1 Corinthians 4:7.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When you encounter His Almightiness, you will see your nothingness.

Yesterday, we examined the dangers of pride, and it was established that pride precedes destruction. When pride is in view, a crash is inevitable.

In today’s study, we shall be looking at the therapy or treatment for pride, and they are as follows:

  1. The revelation and realisation of man’s nothingness without God.

2 Corinthians 3:5 says, Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

The only thing you will be able to achieve outside of Jesus is nothing. If you want to achieve nothing with your life, try and do without Jesus.

Nebuchadnezzar boasted of building Babylon by his own power, but by the time God finished with him, he adjusted his mindset and character.

You would be left with nothing if you took away everything that God did for you. What would you be left with if you removed the breath in your nostrils, the heart that beats, and the brain that functions? Nothing!

We are absolutely nothing without God. This realisation will humble you; it will cause you to calm down.

  1. The revelation of God’s might and Glory through intimacy (Isaiah 6:1-5).

This implies being close enough to God to know who He is.

When you encounter His Almightiness, you will see your nothingness. The reason why we think we are something is that we haven’t really known God.

You will realise your insignificance whenever you encounter His Almightiness. Distance from God is what makes people feel unusually significant and proud.

That was why Lucifer’s sin was unpardonable because he saw the Almightiness of God, yet he exhibited pride. The therapy is to camp around God and run away from those who clap for you in your error. Run away from those who will inflate your head with praise. Don’t hang around those who will only tell you what you want to hear. Go to God and hang around Him; He is the only One who can tell you everything, including the things you don’t want to hear.

iii. Revelation and realisation of who and what you were before God helped you (1 Corinthians 15:9-10).

There are many of us whom God has helped despite our character in the past. God still helped you despite your proclivities.

Beloved, the truth is that anywhere you are now, there are people better than you who are not there. This should humble you. If it is by prayer, there are many people who have prayed more than you, fasted more than you, and are even more intelligent than you.

Therefore, always acknowledge the help of God and remain humble.

REMEMBER THIS: When you encounter His Almightiness, you will see your nothingness.

ASSIGNMENT(S)

  1. Avoid the company of those who clap for you in your errors.
  2. Never forget who and what you were before God helped you.
  3. Camp around God and let His Presence reveal your nothingness to you.

PRAYER: Father, I acknowledge my nothingness without You. Help me to remain small in my own eyes, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
