Building Faith In Battles And Confrontations

WEDNESDAY 5TH NOVEMBER 2025

TOPIC: BUILDING FAITH IN BATTLES AND CONFRONTATIONS

SCRIPTURE: Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God. 1 SAMUEL 17:36.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Today’s fight prepares you for tomorrow’s victory.

While I was yet a medical student some years ago, I went for a holiday and attended a programme where a healing evangelist ministered. The healing evangelist had finished ministering and left. The service had already ended, but right there at the altar was a young boy of about twelve years old with his sister still waiting when everyone had gone. So, I went closer to them and asked, “What is going on?” In desperation, his sister said, “O! my brother is deaf and dumb. The preacher has gone, and today is the last day of the program.” I asked her, “Do you believe that God was the one who healed all the people that were healed in the program, and not the preacher?” She said, “Yes sir.” I said, “Okay, I will pray for your brother.” So, I prayed for the young man, and he began to hear and speak for the first time in his entire life. He could hear as clearly as anyone without any congenital hearing and speech disabilities. That was the first healing I saw in ministry. I was not a pastor then.

That is what I call the exercise of faith.

Do you know what happened to me after that experience? I wanted to see another deaf person so I could pray for them. From that day forward, if I entered any church and they said there were deaf people there, I knew they would be healed.

Beloved, the way body builders build their muscles through rigorous exercises is the same manner that faith requires exercise to build.

What happened in 1Samuel 17:24-51 confirms that the faith to kill Goliath was available because David had been building his faith by fighting and killing lions and bears (1Samuel 17:34-37). David said, Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them… (1Samuel 17:36). In essence, he was saying, “I have lifted 99kg effortlessly before, and I know this 100kg is possible.”

Beloved, today’s fight prepares you for tomorrow’s victory. So, don’t dodge battles. The battles are not there to finish you; they are there to furnish you for the future. Faith is built with exercise. So, anytime someone is sick or challenged around you, it is an opportunity to cast the devil out and strengthen your faith. It is not possible for faith to be built if challenges are dodged, both your challenges and those of others. If the devil comes a thousand times a day, check him out a thousand times. After a short while, he will be looking for someone else not you.

Beloved, don’t allow your faith to be dead. Don’t maintain a weak faith. Don’t allow your faith to fail. Build it up!

Remember this: Today’s fight prepares you for tomorrow’s victory.
