TOPIC: THE UPRIGHTNESS OF DANIEL

SCRIPTURE:
But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. Daniel 1:8

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Uprightness positions a person for riches and wealth, but crookedness is a pathway to poverty and penury.

Daniel was a great man in his generation. And a key secret behind his greatness was that he lived a life of uprightness and godliness. He was determined to remain untainted by the corrupt systems around him.

Daniel 1:8 confirms his unwavering resolve for righteousness and purity: But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

Daniel purposed in his heart not to taste corruption. He made a conscious decision to avoid any form of defilement. He decided to stay away from anything that could compromise his integrity or relationship with God.

We live in a world where corruption is everywhere. It is embedded in systems, establishments, and institutions. However, as children of God, we are called to be different. We are to make a firm decision not to partake in corruption, regardless of its prevalence. Corruption disconnects a person from divine provision and blessings. Crookedness in any form, is an enemy of the blessings from above.

Daniel, a public official, chose not to defile himself or partake in the corruption of his day. His decision elevated him to become one of the wealthiest and most influential men of his time.

Uprightness paves the way for riches and wealth, while crookedness leads to poverty and penury. The upright cannot escape the blessings of God and the crooked cannot escape curses of poverty and scarcity. Everyone must reap the benefits or consequences of their actions.

Counsel:

1. Make up your mind to rise in life by uprightness.
2. Avoid the lifestyle of crookedness, dishonesty, and iniquity.

REMEMBER THIS: Uprightness positions a person for riches and wealth, but crookedness is a pathway to poverty and penury.

PRAYER: Father, I receive the grace for discipline and uprightness of life. Help me to access the blessings of uprightness, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
