Why Procrastinate? Do It Now

SUNDAY 8TH FEBRUARY 2026

TOPIC: WHY PROCRASTINATE? DO IT NOW

SCRIPTURE: See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Ephesians 5:15–16

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Nothing  destroys greatness faster than the assumption that there is still time.

Living with a sense of urgency is one of the greatest secrets of men and women who fulfil destiny. Many glorious destinies have been cut short—not by demons, witchcraft, or lack of opportunity, but by procrastination.

Procrastination is a silent destiny killer. It convinces people that there will always be another time, another chance, another season or another opportunity. But nothing destroys greatness faster than the assumption that there is still time.

There are people who have lost divine connections because they delayed in obeying Divine instruction. Some missed timely instructions that could have opened mega doors for them. Others postponed steps they should have taken, only to later discover that the right time was gone.

It is important to understand that whatever God places on your heart to do whether for Him, for others, or for your yourself, the best time is not later; the best time is always NOW.

Now, here is the power of urgency. History shows us that there are men who lived only a short while on earth, yet their lives produced generational impacts. Their years were few, but their  deeds were weighty. Why? Because they lived intentionally. They moved quickly. They valued time and they acted immediately.

On the other hand, there are those who lived long till the age of about 70, 80, even 100 years yet left no mark on the sands of time. They postponed assignments, waited endlessly for perfect conditions, lived without urgency, and time quietly erased both their existence and significance. The difference between both groups is simple: A SENSE OF URGENCY.

For instance, our Master Jesus lived only thirty-three and a half years on earth. Yet, within that short time, He accomplished what humanity will never finish studying. His impact spans eternity. His Words still transform lives today. His sacrifice still saves souls today. His Ministry still shapes the world today. Even after more than 2,000 years, the world has not recovered from the impact of His short but deeply purposeful and drastically impactful life. This shows that destiny is not measured by the length of time, but by the use of time. Paul admonishes us in Ephesians 5:15–16 to “Walk circumspectly… redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”

To redeem time means to maximize every moment, seize opportunities before they slip away; it means to use time with wisdom and purpose.

Beloved, we live in a world where evil increases daily. So, delay can be dangerous. Time is a gift that must be handled with urgency. If God lays a song on your heart, write it now.
If He tells you to pray for someone, do it now.
If He instructs you to start a business, a ministry, or a project, take the first step now. If you need to forgive someone, do it now.

Don’t forget this: Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Later is not promised. So, procrastination is not an option. Do it now!

Remember this: Nothing  destroys greatness faster than the assumption that there is still time.
