SCRIPTURE: And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Until you change your choices, you have not changed your character.
It has been established that your character is key to your greatness. Who you are determines where you can reach in life.
Now, what is character?
Character is the sum total of a person’s choices.
A wise man once said that character is the sum of a person’s choices.
For example, the decision you would make if you found money that was not yours, is what defines your true character. What you would do if someone overpaid you, or gave you change more than what he was meant to give you, defines your character. The choices you make in life are a product of your character.
What you would do if someone freely gave herself to you to commit fornication or adultery with her, defines your character. Would you succumb to the temptation or flee like Joseph?
Beloved, your character is the sum total of your choices. Until you change your choices, you have not changed your character. Until you change your decisions, until you change the things you do, you have not changed your character.
Every day of your life, your character is being defined in your daily routine.
It is interesting to know that the way people act also defines both their mindset and character. There are many things we do that tell the kind of people we are inside.
For example, if you give two people a huge sum of money to count, one person may start counting from the Five Naira denomination while the other may start counting from the One Thousand Naira denomination. This is because of the differences in their mind sets.
When two animals, say a cow and a horse, are in a lying position, and they are expected to stand, the way they stand up differs. The horse stands up with the front legs first while the cow stands up with the back legs first. This is because the horse is forward-minded, while the cow is backward-minded. This is one reason why no one uses the cow for racing. The horse stands up with the front legs first because it is ready to run; and the cow stands up with the back legs first because it is not in a hurry to do anything.
So, there are different things in our lives that are there to give us a clue about who we are.
Remember this: Until you change your choices, you have not changed your character.
