SCRIPTURE: Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Matthew 5:14-15
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: If the top is your desired destination, then it is important for you to know that it takes a flight to reach there.
The Scripture makes it clear that as children of God, the top is our place in life (Matthew 5:14-16).
However, it takes the cultivation of the mind-set for the top to arrive at the top.
Take note of these key facts regarding the mind-set that takes a person to the top in life:
i. You can only fly to the top.
If the top is your desired destination, then it is important for you to know that it takes a flight to reach there. You don’t stroll casually to the top in life. You fly up. There’s no one who strolled casually through life and arrived at greatness. It takes a flight to reach the top of anything in life. It takes a flight to scale heights in life.
The aircraft, for example, does not stroll up, it flies up.
ii. There is no destiny without a sense of urgency.
Unless you possess the attitude of urgency, you have no destiny. If you are to have a destiny that is substantial, you must possess the sense of urgency. You cannot fulfil destiny if you do things at a slow, sluggish and convenient pace.
iii. Those who make speedy moves create drastic waves.
When you make speedy moves, you create drastic waves in any realm of life.
iv. To slack in action is to lack and lag behind in life.
Those who slack in action, lag behind in life. To slack is to lack. One example that illustrates this point is the story of the birth of Zarah and Pharez, the twin children of Tamar, that came from Judah.
When Tamar travailed, the first son, Zarah, brought out his hand, but the latter took back his hand. Afterwards, she gave birth to the second son, and called his name, Pharez which means, to break forth (Genesis 38:26-30).
While Zarah took back his hand, Pharez broke forth.
You would discover if you follow through the story, that in the lineage of Judah to Jesus Christ, Zarah is missing in the line. It is Pharez’s name that is found in the genealogy. The lineage goes to Pharez because Zarah, the one who was meant to come out first slacked. Zarah got lost in history, he got missing in the genealogy.
The lesson here is, when you draw back, you lose your place.
Remember this: If the top is your desired destination, it is important for you to know that it takes a flight to reach there.
