The Blessing Of The Righteous

TOPIC: THE BLESSING OF THE RIGHTEOUS

SCRIPTURE: For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

Psalms 5:12

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:  The Blessing of God will always travel in the direction of the righteous.

Our anchor scripture reveals the relationship between the righteousness of man and the Blessing of God: For thou, Lord wilt bless the righteous. Righteousness enhances our qualification for the Blessing. There are many people today who appear blessed, but the ways into those so-called blessings are questionable.

The truth of the matter is that the Blessing of God will always travel in the direction of the righteous. The Blessing of God is Godly and is, therefore, attracted to the Godly. When we say ‘Godly’, we mean God-like—to be like God.

To be like God is to live like God, and to function like God is to function in the realm of His Blessing.

So, God created man to look like Him, and as long as man continues to look like God in character and conduct, he won’t struggle for the Blessing.

The most basic thing about looking like God is walking in love. No one kills if he loves. You don’t steal what belongs to another person if you walk in love.

Some people acquire resources in ungodly ways and still see those resources as “blessings.” But we are referring to the Blessing that comes only from God to His people.

Proverbs 11:11 says, By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

So, there is a blessing for the upright that is superior to any other kind of blessing.

The question now is, what are the Godly ways to Blessing? What do you do to access the Blessing of God?

We shall be looking at one of the ways today, and that is:

Do not add to your resources what belongs to others (Genesis 14:21-23). The resources belonging to other people should not cross into your own resources because it will corrupt yours.

Please take note of these:

1. What belongs to another person cannot increase you; it will only diminish your life. Anything that belongs to another person that you are trying to divert to yourself will never increase you; it can only decrease you.
2. Whatever you think you have that God did not give to you is not a blessing but a curse.

Beloved, anything in your possession that God did not give you or you did not earn by labour or by favour does not add to you; rather, it subtracts from you.

REMEMBER THIS:  The Blessing of God will always travel in the direction of the righteous.

ASSIGNMENT(S):

1. Do not be crooked in your dealings with others. Ensure you don’t add to your resources what belongs to another.
2. Maintain an upright life.

PRAYER: Father, thank You for Your Word to me today. I receive all the blessings You have for me. Help me to be upright, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
