SCRIPTURE: “….Hallowed be thy name…” Matthew 6:9
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Prayer is not only done for the sake of petition and supplications but also for adoration and submission.
It has been established that prayer is a vital tool of victory in the journey of life and destiny. That is why a prayerless Christian is a defeated Christian, and a prayerful Christian is a victorious Christian.
Now, it is one thing to know prayer as a potent weapon of life, it is another thing to know what prayer truly is, and how to pray effectively. Our Lord Jesus Christ, in Matthew 6:9-13, gave us the definitions of prayer or how to pray effectively.
In our study today, we shall explore one way of effective prayer.
Matthew 6:9 says,
“….Hallowed be thy name…”
This means, prayer is the platform for the offering of thanks, praise and Worship to God. This kind of prayer is called the prayer of adoration.
The following are important things to note about prayer generally:
1. Prayer is not just petitions and supplications but also adoration and submission.
Prayer is not only done for the sake of petitions and supplications but also adoration and submission.
2. Prayer is not just a place to approach God for what He can do alone; it is also a place to approach God for who He is.
At the place of prayer, we approach God for who He is; we go to God in prayer to know more of Him.
Beloved, the prayer of adoration is very important if we must pray effectively. Receive the grace to approach God with thanksgiving in Jesus’ Name.
Remember this: Prayer is not only done for the sake of petition and supplications but also for adoration and submission.
1. Go through today’s message again.
2. Make the prayer of adoration your consistent habit. Praise God at all time.
PRAYER: Lord, I receive the grace to praise You effectively and consistently. I reject the spirit of ingratitude and depression, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

QUOTE: Please understand that God will never bless the man that will backslide because of money. And backsliding does not just mean to relapse into drinking and smoking; it also means to have a reduction in the time spent in prayer, study of the Word, evangelism, commitment to God and His work, attendance to church services, etc., just because of increased income.
