SCRIPTURE: For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. Proverbs 23:7

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Poverty is a mentality and prosperity is also a mentality.

Sometime ago, my wife told me a story she read from a book. It was the story of a village that had a king, a wise man, two rich men, and all other people were poor.

One day, the poor people came together and said, “Let us kill the two rich men because they are the reason why we are poor.”

So, the matter got to the king and he became worried because the rich men usually helped him meet his family needs.

So, the king asked the wise man what to do. And the wise man said, “If you want the two rich men live, let them distribute all their money to the poor people.”

So, the rich men distributed all their wealth and everyone in the village became rich overnight. Then the poor people began to manifest their poverty mentality: the man who had one wife married more wives; the man who had only one bicycle bought five motorcycles. They thought wealth was the presence of resources but it is actually the presence of the right mentality.

After few years, the money of the poor people finished, and they became five times poorer than they were at the beginning.

On the other hand, the rich men made their money back and in fact, they became richer because of the principles of sowing and reaping. They got more resources because what they did to get money in the first place had not left them.

You see, poverty is a mentality and prosperity is also a mentality. If someone gets a contract of 1.2 million naira and he buys a car of 1.1 million naira; that is poverty at work. Refuse to be enslaved by the mentality of poverty.

Remember this: Poverty is a mentality and prosperity is also a mentality.

1. Reject the mentality of poverty.
2. Maintain a positive mindset of prosperity.

PRAYER: Lord, I ask that You renovate my mentality. Deliver me from the mentality of poverty and poor living, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

QUOTE: It is only a man with a poverty mentality that gets three million naira, for instance, and out of it purchases a car of 2.8 million naira. And to him, he has arrived. Culled from “21 UNCOMMON KEYS TO FINANCIAL OVERFLOW” by Dr Paul Enenche.
