SCRIPTURE: And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. 1 Samuel 17:48.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: You need a sense of urgency to collapse the enemy and be free from captivity.
The Scripture reveals that a major secret of David’s victory in battle was his maintenance of a sense of urgency. David’s whole life was characterized with urgency, swiftness of action and motion.
1 Samuel 21:8 says,
And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste.
We understand from the life of David that if it is the business of the King of kings you are pursuing, haste is required, a sense of urgency is needed.
In the Kingdom, you don’t transact and make profit without a sense of urgency.
As a Kingdom-minded person, pastor, business or career person, without a sense of urgency, your life and destiny may not amount to much relevance to the Kingdom.
There is a sense of urgency that is required for relevance and profit in the Kingdom.
It was this attitude of a sense of urgency that made David kill Goliath.
1 Samuel 17:48 says,
And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.
Can you see that? The Philistine, Goliath arose to meet David. Goliath came casually and drew near to kill David. But David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet Goliath.
The lesson from here is: you must be on the run to collapse the enemy; you need a sense of urgency to collapse the enemy and be free from captivity.
Beloved, are you trusting God for victory in the battles of life? Are you trusting God for triumph in all realms of your life? You need a sense of urgency to collapse the enemy. As David ran and made haste to kill Goliath, you must also run and make haste to sink your enemy.
Remember this: You need a sense of urgency to collapse the enemy and be free from captivity.
ASSIGNMENTS:
- Refuse to take the battles of your life casually.
- Be aggressive towards the enemy when you sense captivity in any area of your life.
- Approach both opportunities and threats in life with a sense of urgency.
PRAYER: Thank You Lord for revealing to me, a key to winning life’s battles. I ask for a fresh baptism of the Spirit of urgency to break any bondage and captivity around my life, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
