SCRIPTURE: Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Malachi 3:8
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The tithe releases heaven’s blessing upon a person.
Our anchor Scripture clearly reveals that the tithe is an instrument of God’s Blessing. The tithe is a heaven opener. The heaven over a life, family, church, and even a whole nation can be opened by the tithe. The tithe releases heaven’s blessing upon a person.
There were notable tithers in history whose impact in their generation and generations after them cannot be erased. In our study today, we shall look at a few of them.
1. John D. Rockefeller
One personality who changed his world through the tithe was John D. Rockefeller. He was the genius behind the Standard Oil in United States of America. He was the first dollar billionaire in the history of USA or probably in the history of the world. He tithed from the first one dollar he had and continued in the covenant practice.
In a particular year, he gave his church one hundred and twenty million dollars for the Church’s University project. When men of the press asked him why he gave such huge amount of money to the church, he said, “God gave it to me, and I am giving it back to God, what is the challenge?”
2. R. G. Letourneau
He was the one who manufactured earth-moving machines during the Second World War. He was a major giver to the cause of the Gospel. He is reputed for once saying, “It is not how much money I gave to God but how much of God’s money I kept to myself.” According to him, even the money left with him after removing the tithe belonged to God.
3. Albert Hyde
He was the founder of Mentholatum. He gave millions of dollars for God’s Work.
4. Wallace Johnson of the Holiday Inn
He gave massively for God’s cause on the earth. He was totally dependent upon God for help in everything.
These were Christian businessmen documented in history as faithful tithers. They impacted their society and generation. Anyone who questions the power of the tithe does so out of ignorance.
Beloved, God gave you all that you have; it is not too much to give back to him a tiny 10% of it as tithe. Be a faithful tither!
Remember this: The tithe releases heaven’s blessing upon a person.
