SCRIPTURE: With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful, and with the upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright. 2 Samuel 22:26
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Kindness increases favour and hardness decreases favour.
It has been established that kindness increases favour and hardness decreases favour. Kindness is being interested in people’s welfare. When you are a person who is interested in the welfare of others, your favour will increase; but when you have no interest in the welfare of people, your favour will decrease.
When a person is interested in meeting the needs of others, helps his boss, employees, subordinates, spouse, such a person will not lack favour.
This was what Joseph did when he saw the baker and the butler who were both in need. They looked worried and troubled. So, Joseph asked them what their problem was. And when he solved their problem, it gave him the gateway to the palace.
You see, in our generation today, we look at people or even our neighbours who look sad and don’t care. We see people around us looking sad and depressed, they sit beside us in church, yet, we don’t care.
The last time you saw such a person in church, he was cheerful, but today, he looks depressed, but you can’t even ask, “Is there any challenge? Is there something troubling you? Is there anything you want me to pray with you about?”
When you come to your office, and your boss is looking depressed, sad, and haggard, let the kindness in you ask him, “Sorry sir, you are looking troubled, is there anything that I can pray with you about?”
When you see your contemporaries, neighbours, driver, cook or someone else looking sad and troubled, sow the seed of kindness.
2 Samuel 22:26 says,
With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful, and with the upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright.
My counsel is, make up your mind to embrace the lifestyle of kindness.
