SCRIPTURE: And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. Luke 19:6.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: You must possess a sense of urgency if you want God to change your story.
While Jesus Christ was on the earth, there was a time he went to Jericho with His disciples, and a crowd of people followed him.
At Jericho, there was a man called Zacchaeus, a very rich man and a chief among the publicans. He pressed to see Jesus, but he could not because of the crowd for he was of a little stature. So, he ran ahead, and climbed a sycamore tree in order to see Jesus, knowing He was to pass that way.
And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw Zacchaeus and said unto him, “Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for today I must abide at thy house.”
Jesus told Zacchaeus, “Make haste and come down.”
That is to say, “Zacchaeus, in case you are looking for an encounter, make haste. In case you want me to change your life, make haste. In case you want your story to change, make haste and come down. For today, I must abide at thy house.”(Luke 19:5, paraphrased).
Now, what was Zacchaeus’ response?
Luke 19:6 says,
And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.
Beloved, do you want God to change your life and story? You must make haste. You must approach God for the change of your life and story with a sense of urgency.
You must possess a sense of urgency if you want God to change your story. You must possess an attitude of urgency if you want God to dwell in your house like Zacchaeus.
Beloved, God may have revealed Himself to you many times expecting you to respond to the encounter with a sense of urgency, but you slacked. You might have lost an encounter with God that could have changed your life because of lack of a sense of urgency. When God drops a burden in your heart or gives you a revelation in the dream of the night, respond to God with a sense of urgency. This is the key to maximizing Divine encounters.
Remember this: You must possess a sense of urgency if you want God to change your story.
