Be Strong In The Lord

TOPIC: BE STRONG IN THE LORD

SCRIPTURE: Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  Ephesians 6:10-11

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: You need to be strong not just for yourself, but for others who are counting on your strength.

In our anchor Scripture, we were admonished to possess and maintain strength in the Lord. This is because it is only when you are strong that you can do exploits. Spiritual exploits can only be possible when spiritual strength is in place.

1 Corinthians 16:13 says, Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

Now, why is spiritual strength a necessity?

1. Spiritual strength is needed to handle spiritual warfare (2 Corinthians 10:3-6).

The absence of strength leads to existence as a victim. If your spiritual journey as a Child of God is not to end in defeat and frustration, spiritual strength is not negotiable.

Beloved, I want you to understand that there is multidirectional warfare in the realm of the spirit. One basic warfare is that the altars of your father’s house or lineage don’t want you to make any progress with God.

Before Gideon could step into the assignment God had for him, God told him to go take a young bullock and throw down the altar of Baal which was in his father’s house. That was necessary for Gideon to make any meaningful impact in the ministry.

Some people were genuinely called into Ministry, but because of spiritual warfare, it appears as if they were not called at all. Spiritual warfare also has to do with the territorial powers of the land where you are based. Some forces in your territory don’t want you to function effectively in Ministry.

2. Strength is needed to bear the burdens of a challenged generation or the weak.

That is why Romans 15:1 says, We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

Beloved, you need to be strong not just for yourself, but for others in your family or community. There is someone who needs your strength. There is an entire family that needs your strength. There is a city or a nation that is counting on your strength.

For example, if Moses had decided not to be strong, Israel would have been buried in Egypt. If Gideon had decided not to be strong, the Midianites would have overrun the Israelites. If David had failed to be strong, Israel would have become the slaves of the Philistines.

Beloved, God is asking you today, “Why do you want to give up when many people need you to stand?” You need to stand not only because of you, but also because some people are still Christians today because of your fire. Some people have passion today because of your passion.

REMEMBER THIS: You need to be strong not just for yourself, but for others counting on your strength

ASSIGNMENT(S):

1. Put on the full armour of God so you can stand against the wickedness of the devil and his agents.
2. Encourage yourself in the Lord as David did and be strong for those counting on you.
3. Never give up!

PRAYER: Father, thank You for Your Word to me today. I receive the impartation of Your Strength for the journey ahead, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
