SCRIPTURE: There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil …. this man was the greatest of all the men of the east. Job 1:1, 3.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Integrity is combinable with prosperity; righteousness is combinable with riches.
One character in the Bible who is synonymous with uprightness or righteousness is Job.
Concerning Job, the Scripture says, in Job 1:1-3:
There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters. His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.
You see, Job was a perfect and upright man before God. He hated and eschewed evil; he avoided crookedness of life.
Now, this is the interesting part: beyond Job’s uprightness, the Scripture also reveals that he was the richest man in the East.
What lesson can we learn from the life of Job?
We can learn from Job’s life that integrity is combinable with prosperity; righteousness is combinable with riches. Job was upright and he was also rich.
Some people think that if you are holy, you cannot be wealthy. That is a lie from the pit of hell. Integrity does not reduce a man; iniquity does. The wealthiest people in Scriptures were also the holiest people. Uprightness is key to sustainable wealth.
God wants us to combine integrity with prosperity. Some Christians have integrity but lack prosperity. Even though they are holy, they are poor. This is not the will of God at all.
On the other hand, there are some who are rich but compromised their uprightness with God. But the life of Job has revealed to us that a child of God can be rich and yet be holy.
Beloved, the consequences of Job’s uprightness were riches and wealth. Therefore, desire to be upright in life.
REMEMBER THIS: Integrity is combinable with prosperity; righteousness is combinable with riches.
