SCRIPTURE: And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. Acts 11:26.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Godly character increases the potency of Christian witnessing.
Many years ago, while in the university, I usually came across a young man who was a chronic Indian hemp smoker. Every time he saw me coming, according to him, he would begin to quake and quiver. He later told me after his conversion, “I thought you were coming to destroy me.”
He quaked because there was something in me that was piercing. It is the potency of fire and godly character.
So, one day, I caught him and he gave his life to Christ. I had never seen him smile until I led him to Christ.
I asked him to kneel down and confess Jesus Christ and he did. I led him to Christ by the fire of spirituality and the force of character.
Beloved, consciously imbibe Godly character. If your character is not Godly, nobody will accept to follow you to your church; no one will be interested in knowing your God.
For example, they see you do the same wrong things they do in the office. They come late to work and sign an earlier time in the attendance register, and they watch you coming late and doing the same thing. How would they follow you to church?
Beloved, Godly character is a potent witnessing tool.
In the Acts of the Apostles, unbelievers were the ones that first called the disciples Christians. They looked at the disciples’ character, and saw that they looked like Christ, so they called them “Christians” which means, “little Christs.” (Act 11:26).
Godly character increases the potency of Christian witnessing. When your character is godly, your witnessing is potent. When your character is correct, your preaching is short.
Beloved, my counsel is, live the life that will attract others to Christ.
Remember this: Godly character increases the potency of Christian witnessing.
ASSIGNMENTS:
- Refuse to make your life a hindrance to the salvation of souls by ungodly character.
- Live the life that attracts others to God and compels them to know and follow Him.
PRAYER: Lord, I receive the grace to uphold godly character. Let my life be a dragnet of souls into the Kingdom, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
